The Need for Deacons
As we study the book of James, we see Scripture teaching that faith works. Specifically, James shows us that true faith produces works of justice and mercy towards those in need (James 2:14-26). Our deacons help us care for those in need—to put our faith to work.
We need deacons
As we focus on living out our faith, we need more deacons. We need men who will put their faith to work and will lead us as a church to do the same. We need more deacons to help us love one another well and to show Christ's love to our community.
Nominate deacons in August
During August, we nominate men to serve as elders and deacons. I encourage all of our members to consider whom they might nominate for church office, especially for deacon. You know men who love the Lord and who have servant hearts. Many of these men would provide good, faithful leadership if encouraged by others. So, please prayerfully consider whom you believe God could use in church leadership.
Be willing to serve
I also encourage men to consider serving as deacons. It is work. It requires a commitment. Love always does. Yet, serving one another is critical to the mission of the church.
"He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you?
But to do justly,
And to love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?"
