Stock or Qualified Charitable Distributions
Appreciated Stock
Donations of appreciated stock are a good way for donors to receive a charitable deduction in the amount of the market value of the stock at the time of donation. In addition, ALL capital gains taxes are avoided by the donor on the gains in the stock value. Stocks may be donated to the Village Seven Presbyterian Church account with Charles Schwab and Co. Contact your accountant, account custodian, or financial manager for more information.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD’s)
Under current law (SECURE 2.0), RMD’s now must begin in the year the IRA owner turns 73 (for those born after December 31, 1950). Individuals 70½ or older can still make QCD’s directly from their IRA’s. The annual QCD limit for 2025 is $108,000 (up from $105,000 in 2024 and adjusted for inflation). These QCD’s can satisfy your RMD for the year; they are excluded from taxable income and are not itemized deductions. Please consult your tax advisor or IRA custodian for details. For donors who do NOT itemize deductions, using QCD’s is an extremely tax efficient way to give.
